With 20 Strategies for Flatness made specifically for *QueenSpecific, Erin O’Keefe creates a catalog of simple shapes that play with spatial perception. The shapes are cut from folded letter size Photoshop gradients, then photographed and printed at full scale. There is confusion between the surface and dimensionality of the original paper subject and its representation in the flat photographic image.
Erin O’Keefe is an artist based in New York City and New Brunswick, Canada. Her practice is concerned with spatial perception and the translation of three-dimensional form and space into two-dimensional image. Her work has appeared most recently in on the cover of WAX magazine and in the 2014 Photography issue of Vice magazine.
