Crumpled Paper Tests, 2012

Amanda is interested in looking at thread as line. Her thread replicas of notebook paper expose the blue and red marks by removing the white of the paper. Flat sewn lines ave been crumpled exposing their folds, tangles and slumps. These crinkled scraps of paper represent scrapped ideas, or happy accidents. Amanda will be purchasing more notebook paper when she goes back to school this fall at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA. She anticipates many scrapped ideas in her upcoming academic pursuits.
Amanda McCavour holds a BFA from York University where she studied drawing and installation. Since graduating in 2007, she has participated in national and international exhibitions and has recently completed residencies at Harbourfront Centre’s Textile Studio in Toronto and at the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture in Dawson City.
Amanda McCavour is represented by Lonsdale Gallery in Toronto.
