Jim Verburg is a multimedia, Toronto-based artist. Employing minimalist abstraction, Verburg’s art considers intimacy and interpersonal dynamics, and how individual ideologies relate to visual perception. Verburg has exhibited in Toronto, Montreal, Oakville, Peterborough, Winnipeg, Prague, Zurich and most recently Brazil. His film For a Relationship won the 2008 Jury Prize for the Best Canadian Short Film at the Inside Out Film Festival (Toronto), and was nominated for the Iris Prize, UK. He was awarded the 2011 Dazibao Prize at Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal, resulting in the publication of a bookwork, featured at Art Basel Miami with Art Metropole (Toronto). This spring he presented a solo show at Galerie Nicolas Robert in Montreal.
