Suh-peer-ee-er exists as part of an ongoing interest in the anthropomorphising of objects and ‘things’. Playing with ideas of value and stature in a superficial way, Jemma Egan is often drawn to things that are imitation or lower value: ‘shiny shit’.
Jemma Egan is a UK born artist currently based between the UK and Toronto. She is attracted to the inherent performativity of objects, seduced by the almost personal qualities that they possess. There is often an element of humour, playfulness or bathos to her work.
