In the Stacks

09.10.10 – 09.11.10

In the Stacks is an exhibition by six Toronto-based artists who have a history of working with text and artists’ books. The standard library metal shelving unit, adapted to the dimensions of *QueenSpecific’s exhibition space, will display the artists’ individual works, with each on a dedicated shelf. The stacks will be closed, in that the work may not be borrowed, yet open in the sense of being visible, 24 hours a day, in a street level vitrine space.

Participating artists: Bill Burns, Dave Dyment, Michelle Gay, Yam Lau, Michael Maranda, and Stephanie Shepherd.

Barbara Balfour is a Toronto-based artist who has exhibited prints, multiples, and installations, in addition to undertaking curatorial and professional printing projects. An Associate Professor and Head of the Print Media Area in the Department of Visual Arts at York University, she teaches theory and print-based studio courses.

In the Stacks is an exhibition affiliated with Open Studio’s Printopolis.
